Our heat treatment services are specifically designed to combat pests such as the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB), as well as other invertebrates like ants, spiders, Flighted Spongy Moth (formerly Asian Gypsy Moth, AGM), and vertebrates including frogs, snakes, and lizards.

BMSB treatment season:

During the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) season, it is mandatory for all used vehicle exported from Japan to New Zealand to go through an approved pre-export system that includes a BMSB treatment.

All vehicles that are exported through ATL’s System during the BMSB season will undergo a heat treatment to prevent the presence of live BMSB in New Zealand. This regulation is enforced by the Ministry for Primary Industries.

While Australian regulations do not extend to cargo originating from Japan, most shipping lines still enforce mandatory treatment during the BMSB season as a precautionary measure.

ATL maintain approved pre-export inspection systems for Australia, and during the BMSB season our process includes a BMSB heat treatment.

It’s important to note that the heat treatment seasons differ between NZ and Australia.

For vehicles and machinery bound for New Zealand, departing from Japan after September 1st and arriving in New Zealand until April 30th (inclusive), treatment is required.

For vehicles and machinery bound for Australia, departing from Japan after September 1st and leaving Japan until April 30th (inclusive), treatment is also required. However, please be aware that specific requirements may vary.
